The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) takes place now in Nairobi, Kenya.

The three-day Summit focuses on crucial issues like reproductive rights, maternal deaths, child marriage, sex education or female genital mutilation. Already many international anti-choice groups (also Polish – Ordo Iuris) express their anger and try to influence the debate and final resolution. The Vatican does not participate in the Summit, explaining that the agenda does not take into account the views of all nations. But we can imagine it is not about that.

Every day…
… over 800 women die from preventable causes during pregnancy and childbirth;
… over 33,000 girls are forced into marriage.
Imagine…
…over 230 million women want to prevent pregnancy but are not able to use modern contraception,
… over 4 million girls experience female genital mutilation every year.

There are important issues that have to be discussed and solved. Women* are half of the global population!

We demand that issues of women’s and children’s health, rights, poverty, violence are being solved!
We demand that human rights and reproductive rights are properly protected!
We demand that the Cairo Promise is fulfilled!

Stop anti-choice movement! They have (women’s and children’s) blood on their hands!

We call the UNFPA United Nations Population Fund, governments, politicians and organisations to act, to have no fear and to persevere!
