Botschaft der Polinnen*
EMPÖRT EUCH!
von Anna Krenz
We are pleased to present Botschaft der Polinnen* by artist Anna Krenz, as part of the project „Feminist Perspectives from Warsaw“.
The exhibition brings together a selection of Anna Krenz’s illustrations, drawings and installations, emerging from many years of feminist activism and collective experiences through different artistic languages, including storytelling and performance. Her work creates images, symbols and calls for collective action, transforming protest into a space for resistance and transformation.
At the centre of Krenz’s artistic practice are the feminist struggles of Polish women* – both in Poland and in the diaspora in Germany – as well as forms of women’s solidarity that reach beyond borders. She was the initiator of #Globalscream, an action that sought to bring together divided feminist groups in Berlin on International Women’s Day through a simultaneous collective scream: one minute, one voice, connecting feminist struggles across borders and making them visible as a shared political experience.
Another initiative, #ichstreike, reflects this approach by responding to political developments and the ongoing struggle for women’s rights all over the world. By turning the act of striking into a form of feminist artistic expression and collective resistance, Krenz explores how protest can become both a collective action and a way of imagining alternatives to our patriarchal structures.
As Anna Krenz writes:
“Most often protests are ‘against’ something, sometimes they are ‘for’. Being against is not enough. One has to offer an alternative. A vision. This is what we, artists, do – we create. What is our alternative? What is our demand and how do we imagine change to be possible? What is our vision? Art can help not only to express our disagreement, but can also let us imagine an alternative to the status quo.”
In Botschaft der Polinnen*, artistic practice becomes a form of collective memory and political narratives regarding to feminist messages like „My body, my choice“, „Empört euch!“. She invites us to look protest not only as an expression of resistance, but also as a performative practice.
„Oburzajcie się!“
ANNA KRENZ
Z przyjemnością prezentujemy Botschaft der Polinnen* artystki Anny Krenz, w ramach projektu „Feminist Perspectives from Warsaw”.
Wystawa gromadzi wybór ilustracji, rysunków i instalacji Anny Krenz, powstałych na przestrzeni wielu lat feministycznego aktywizmu i kolektywnych doświadczeń, wyrażanych za pomocą różnych języków artystycznych, w tym storytellingu i performansu. Jej twórczość tworzy obrazy, symbole i wezwania do wspólnego działania, przekształcając protest w przestrzeń oporu i zmiany.
To właśnie robimy my, artystki i artyści – tworzymy.
